Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Droplet handles your information. The short version: we don't collect, transmit, or store any of your data on our servers. Everything stays on your device.
If you have questions, contact us at duijvel@gmail.com.
1. Who we are
Droplet is operated by Willem Duijvelshoff ("we", "us", "our"). This policy applies to the Droplet iOS app, its Home Screen widget, and any other versions distributed under the same name.
2. Data we collect
We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising trackers, no third-party data collection of any kind built into the app.
We do not have a server. We do not have an account system. There is no sign-up or login.
3. Data stored locally on your device
To do its job, Droplet stores the following on your device only,
using Apple's UserDefaults and shared App Group storage:
- The amount of water you log each day, including timestamps
- Your daily hydration goal
- Your preferred unit system (metric or imperial)
- Your custom quick-log amounts
- Your selected display font and other display preferences
- Your smart-reminder settings
- Whether you have purchased an active Droplet Pro subscription
This information never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to back it up via Apple's iCloud Backup or transfer it to a new device via Apple's standard migration tools. In those cases, the data is handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy, not by us — we never see it.
Uninstalling Droplet removes all of this data from your device.
4. Apple and in-app purchases
Droplet offers an optional auto-renewing subscription called Droplet Pro (monthly or yearly). All purchase processing is handled by Apple. We never see your payment information, Apple ID, name, billing address, or any other identifying details from Apple.
When you subscribe, Apple gives the app a cryptographic receipt indicating that the subscription is active. The app uses this to unlock Pro features and stores only a local true/false flag indicating Pro status. The receipt itself is verified locally using Apple's StoreKit framework — no data is sent to us.
Subscription billing is governed by Apple's Media Services Terms.
5. Notifications
If you enable Smart Reminders (a Pro feature), Droplet schedules local notifications on your device to remind you to drink water. These notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely by iOS on your device — no remote push notification service is involved, and no notification data is sent to us or any third party.
You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → Droplet, or by toggling Smart Reminders off inside the app.
6. Apple's required-reasons APIs
Apple requires developers to declare why they use certain device APIs.
Droplet declares one such use in its bundled PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy
file: UserDefaults access for the reason CA92.1 —
that is, to read and write app-internal preferences within the app and its
widget extension. This declaration is purely about local storage and does
not imply any data collection.
7. Children's privacy
Droplet is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app collects no personal information from anyone, this is true regardless of the user's age.
8. Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws)
Because Droplet does not collect or store any personal data on our servers, requests to access, correct, export, or delete personal data held by us will return an empty result — there is nothing to retrieve or remove.
To delete the data stored on your own device, uninstall the app or use iOS Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Droplet → Delete App.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California, or another jurisdiction with comparable privacy laws, you nevertheless retain your statutory rights and may contact us with any questions or concerns at the email below.
9. Data retention
Data stored locally on your device is retained until you remove it (by deleting records inside the app, resetting today's progress, or uninstalling the app).
We do not retain any data ourselves because we do not collect any.
10. Security
Local data is protected by iOS's standard sandboxing and file-protection mechanisms. Subscription receipts are verified using Apple's StoreKit framework with cryptographic signatures. Because no data is transmitted off-device by us, the data is never in transit on our infrastructure.
11. International users
Droplet is available worldwide. Because we do not collect or transfer any personal data ourselves, no international data-transfer concerns arise from your use of the app.
12. Changes to this policy
If we update this Privacy Policy, the new version will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date. Material changes will also be reflected in the app where reasonable. Continued use of the app after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
